Let’s Make “Nomfundo” Happen!
Nomfundo is a short film about a conflicted, young woman whose life is
irrevocably changed when she has a transcendental encounter with a stranger.
Sihle Hlophe and Dineo Lusenga have been working in the local TV and film industry for the last 8 years. Both of them are deeply passionate about storytelling and empowering other young people.
Earlier this year, they came together in order to create the beautiful story of “Nomfundo”, a conflicted young woman whose life is irrevocably changed when she has a transcendental encounter with a stranger. Traditionally filmmakers have to apply to funding bodies such as the National Film & Video Foundation in order to get money to shoot their films. This process can be extremely draining and in some cases, futile, especially because of the current economic climate.
That is why Sihle Hlophe and Dineo Lusenga have taken it upon themselves to raise money using a non-traditional funding method, namely crowdfunding. The money raised will be used to hire production equipment, pay the crew salaries and stipends and distribute the film to as many international film festivals as possible. The film will also be distributed to various broadcasters and online video platforms. We are not making this film strictly for financial remuneration; rather it is for international recognition and the deep love of storytelling.
The film will be shot on location in Walkerville, Gauteng between the 12th and 13th of December 2015. We hope to be done with post-production in February 2016 so that the premiere of the film can be in April of the same year.
We would deeply appreciate your support and we hope that you will join us on this beautiful and crazy journey. Lets make “Nomfundo” happen!
Milestone 1 – R7 500
The Tipping Point
With this amount, we will be able to rent some of the production equipment needed to shoot the film.
Milestone 2 – R25 000
The Ultimate Goal
With this amount, we will be able to do post-production, pay our sound designer, our sound mixer and our colorist. If we raise more than the milestone, that money will be used to market the film and distribute it to various film festivals.
