Matilha was born as a band in late 2009, at Almada. Early on the band opted for a sound inside the rock, but without the traditional guitarist.
In early 2010, Matilha recorded his first single, part of the collection ‘FNAC Novos Talentos’ which acts as a presentation card on radio stations, such as Antena 3 and the Radar.
The theme “Fica mais um pouco” took the band to the first stages, mainly in underground bars circuit, and afterwards to a few festivals, which coincided with the entry in the collective Movimento Alternativo Rock.
The video, produced and directed by Manuel Lino, also stood out for the prize awarded by Offbeatz that year.
During 2010, Matilha records the debut EP, namesake, with 3 songs. One of which, “The End,” is a version.
The following year, the band enters the Black Sheep Studios for, along with Makoto Yagyu and Fabio Jevelim produce and record the first long-term, “Andar perdido é uma conversa”, an album that projected the band to the stages across the country, this time to events of another dimension.
The theme “Andar perdido” was the debut single from the debut album.
Later on, Matilha competes and wins the NOS Live Act, which opened the doors to the festival NOS, and now serves as the motto for recording the second album, to be launched by NOS discos in 2016.
