The Simple Kind is an ethical fashion company that designs and produces retro-modern, feminine dresses for babies and ladies. We seek to raise awareness about the inequality that pervades the current fashion industry. We’re determined to see global trade used for the GOOD of the earth and its people!
What we do: We are committed to empowering our makers/artisans through sustainable employment opportunities, giving buyers the opportunity to participate in the incredible social and environmental benefits of ethical fashion, and caring for the earth through the use of responsibly sourced or upcycled materials.
Ultimately, we believe in the power of art to tell a story. By moving fashion away from its current state of feverish consumerism and towards its purest intention of art and self-expression, The Simple Kind seeks to say something new, beautiful, and redemptive about the people who make and wear our clothes! Along with making and selling dresses, we will seek out new and creative ways to empower women and share their stories.
Why We’re Raising $6,000: The money we raise will go directly towards buying the materials and supplies necessary to get The Simple Kind up and running for the first 6 months (i.e. fabric, dress form, production costs, website fees, etc. ). This money will allow us to partner with the Mile High Workshop in production for our first line of baby dresses! It will also aid two of our core staff in a strategic trip to Southeast Asia in 2016 to meet and connect with textile producers, artisan groups, and other ethical fashion organizations.
A Little Gift: With every donation of $15, we’ll send you a postcard of one of Molly’s original illustrations (in photos). If you donate over $30, we’ll send you both! When you make your donation, write either “Gandhi” or “Teresa” to indicate which quote you’d like. We’ll email you from there. We can do this together!
