Paignton Amateur Rowing Club has been training and racing all kinds of rowing boats out of Paignton Harbour since 1890. Over our 125 years as a sports club in Torbay the club has seen many members through its ranks. Currently the club is host to around 70 members, 30 of which are junior rowers and the rest are mostly adults of the age 40-60. The Rowing Club is not the only user of Paignton Harbour, there is a prominent sailing club which hosts events throughout the year, where a great number of dinghys and lasers make their way down to the iconic Torbay to race. Paddleboarders and Kayaks are regularly seen paddling out of the Harbour mouth and fisherman can often be seen casting from the Harbour walls. The Harbour is a popular location for walks with beaches either side.
Paignton Rowing Club is holding a fundraiser on the 2nd January 2016 in Torquay High Street to raise funds for junior equipment and towards the purchase of a defibrillator for Paignton Harbour. The Harbour is a prefect location for a defibrillator, it is centrally located in Torbay with both ferries making a stop there between Brixham and Torquay. The number of users of the harbour numbers in thousands over the year.
Our Project is to raise the entire funds for the cost of the Defibrillator for Paignton Harbour. The purchase of this valuable and lifesaving piece of kit in our opinion is a neccessity for the area.
