FROM FOOTBALLER TO PARALYMPIC DISCUS ATHLETE – DANIEL’S ROAD TO RIO

My Goal it to compete on the world stage at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games as an F44 Discus Athlete. Having a pathway to compete again after a life altering injury has made me feel like a Athlete again, and only galvanized my determination to succeed. After feeling down and out throughout 6 ankle surgeries and 2.5years of pain, I have finally found an athletic purpose I am passionate about to combine with my innate persistence to achieve.

2 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP NOW

1. Donate! be part of my Rio Paralympic Journey. :-)

2. Spread the word. Personally send this campaign individually to your 6 closest family and friends and request that they do the same.

The funds raise will play an integral part in my ability to maintain an elite training environment in preparation for Rio. This will include freeing up more time to devote to training, purchasing new equipment and training attire, custom making a new orthosis for my injured ankle and traveling to domestic and international events to name just a few things.

Thank you to Lucas and Julie from Shotgun Media for their outstanding work on producing this video. A further thanks to my beautiful Fiancee Kim Scheffel for her love and ongoing support. Kim I can’t wait to marry you in January, and share all of our success (and those failures on the way to success) together.

UPDATES

This is the new orthosis I need to purchase in the next month to help my preparation for Rio

This is the new Orthosis I am hoping to purchase in the next month to assist my preparation for the Rio Paralympics. This model is a big improvement on my current one which is being sent off interstate for repair today due to significant wear. I don’t have a sufficient replacement while it is away which limits my activity including work and training. Funds raised from this campaign will help to pay for this.
