What Are We?
A non-profit four day comedy festival returning for it’s second year to the Iowa City area on April 21-24 2016. Our goal is to help nurture Iowa City’s growing comedy scene of students, performers, and organizers by connecting them to professional artists and performers across the nation. By having these seasoned performers come to Iowa City, they will not only provide insight and experience to our local performers, but they will also have the opportunity to share their talents with the greater Iowa City community through their performances. In order to foster an effective learning weekend we plan on providing a boat load of different opportunities to teach and observe including live stand up and improv performances, an online sketch competition, and a number of readings, workshops, and talk-backs.
We need your help, right now.
We want to bring bigger names and more diverse comedy to our festival this year. Last year, our headliner played in a lecture hall of a university building, but this year we’ve booked the Englert Theatre, a beautiful 725 seat venue in the heart of Iowa City. We want to fill this space with someone with name recognition: someone who has their own tv show, Netflix special, you name it. These kinds of headliners need to be booked around December, and to book someone like this, we need revenue, and quick. The support generated from this campaign will go directly to booking a headliner like this, and the more we can raise, the less tickets will cost. We would like to keep ticket prices low (under 25$) so that it’s affordable for community members to attend.
Thank you!
We appreciate all your help in keeping this festival afloat and to show our thanks we are offering a number of Floodwater thank you gifts, seen along the right side of the screen. Any donation helps. We love making the community laugh and we couldn’t do it without your help.
