Hi, my name is Joe Kirton and I am an up and coming Duathlete, with ambitions to go into triathlons in 2016.
What I do
I study Sports Science at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, London. And coached by Mick Woods through the EPACC system here. I have competed in athletics since I was 12 years old. This summer I had aspirations to compete in triathlons next year, and my first step is to compete in the BUCS Duathlon for my university. We have a very good chance of scoring points here, and getting an individual and team medals there.
Training every day, twice a day has its downsides, but to be competing at a high level has its rewards, hoping to compete for Great Britain in the age-groups. The atmosphere within the EPACC squad at university has helped develop me into a more rounded athlete, a hard worker in sport and outside of sport, who likes to coach and I look after children in the local area.
Why I need this pledge
This money would help me buy a brand new road bike as the one I ride currently is well past its sell by date. Due to my father having cancer, money is very tight and affording new kit and equipment it a struggle, having to borrow bikes off shops on a ‘test’ ride to be able to compete, but this can only go on for so long as having my very own bike to race and train on will help me reach my goals.
With Support from you would help me realise my dreams of competing for Great Britain, with the first step at BUCS Duathlon.
Thanks!
