Starting with Vince’s journey to WA from Calabria, Italy as a five-year old boy, the book will retrace his road towards a West Australian life and the founding of his family home in Northbridge (Perth) in the early 1950′s. The story will continue through Vince’s childhood, telling all those hilarious anecdotes he has become so loved for, and on into his adolescence and butcher’s apprenticeship. His early 20′s when he meets his wife Anne, starting their family and opening Mondo di Carne (World of Meats) their butcher shop together. A shop which is now one of Australia’s premier gourmet butchers.
The book will be divided into three sections, each with its own selection of largely Italian inspired recipes covering mains (meat and non), as well as light meals, pastas and risottos, sides and desserts. The photography and styling with be simple and inviting to suit the delicious, home-style cooking which is close to Vince’s heart and comes alongside his very personal story.
The flesh in my life will also include beautifully illustrated educational segments on cuts of meat and meat preparation, with step-by-step images and/or illustrations to further readers’ knowledge.
Excess funds from this campaign will go in full to Charity 100%.
