After our first call for submissions, we received over a hundred poems, stories, essays, photos, and drawings from people throughout the U.S. as well as Nepal, Singapore, Mumbai, Hong Kong, and New Delhi. We’ve selected the cream of the crop, and now we are raising funds to print and distribute the magazine.
The theme of our first issue is Transitions and will feature writing from Wing Tek Lum, Jasmine An, Catherine Shen, Keshab Sigdel, Jeff Yu, Jasmine An, O Woomi Chung, Pik-Shuen Fung, Arathi Devandran, Amanda Ang, and Kiyomi Dong. We will be announcing art selections soon!
Our goal is not to turn a profit, but purely to get great work from a diverse group of Asian writers and artists out into the public eye. We chose print as our medium rather than producing an online magazine because we believe in the tactile power of the page. Our team is working hard to ensure that our design is just as impactful as our content.
By supporting our launch publication, you’ll help us get the momentum we need to produce future issues and attract an even larger pool of talented Asian writers and artists.
Why “Elastic”?
We change by the minute. Pushed, stretched, slingshotted in directions dictated by our surroundings and the people in them. But the process of resuming (or renouncing) one’s most basic shape is essential to landing on new fields of conversation.
