Dia De Muertos Singapore

Welcome to Dia De Muertos Singapore!

Dia De Muertos Singapore is an arts and music fiesta celebrating the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead, in Singapore. The biggest of its kind in Asia, the event will feature art and music collaborations between leading Singaporean and Mexican artists and musicians as well as mouth watering Mexican food and drinks.
We need your help to bring this project to life, to help in creating an event that is a platform to foster cross cultural music and art collaborations through the celebration of a festival celebrated on the other side of the world.
We have spent months rallying a team of artists, musicians and volunteers across disciplines in Singapore to come together to make this event a reality. The whole intention is to exchange knowledge between the various different communities and cultures in Singapore and hopefully be the start of many many more successful collaborations and celebrations to come.
Dia De Muertos Singapore is a one day only event, November 7th 2015. Time: 7pm till late. Venue: Emily Hill, 11 Upper Wilkie Rd, Singapore 228120
Admission is free so anyone and everyone will be able to join in the festivities.

Day of the Dead Altar

Day of the Dead altars are built during Dia de Muertos to honor the lives of those who have passed. They are often beautiful creations, constructed with love and care. Creating these altars is one of the most important traditions during Day of the Dead in Mexico.

As such, a whole section of the venue will be curated to look like a Day of the Dead altar, dedicated to iconic Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo featuring her interests, passion and other lifetime highlights. The Mexican community will be invited to contribute to this altar, providing a glimpse of this festivity to those not familiar with it as well as the life of international icon, Frida Kahlo.

Day of the Dead Artworks

Providing iconic Frida artworks as a base, local artists will be invited to reinterpret these pieces and this
will highlight a Singaporean take on a culture and be part of a festivity that’s celebrated on the other side of the world.

at this event, with various vendors lining the area, creating a festive bazaar atmosphere bring people from all walks of life together for this celebration.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from 5pm till the end of event.

The Mexican Association of Singapore will be carrying out a workshop for children to teach them more about the celebration and to be part of it. These include making skull calaveritas out of cardboard, paper collage art and mask making.

This workshop is available for children from 5pm – 7pm at the event venue.

What We Need & What You Get

We need your help in raising funds to defray costs of the event, including logistics, materials, equipment and token fees needed to pull off the show.

We don’t have much, but we have large amounts of gratitude and handmade and handwritten notes and tokens and the possibility of building a structure at the venue that would feature your names at the event to showcase our immense gratitude in helping us achieve our goal.
In the event that we are unable to raise funds, we will have to unfortunately remove elements from the show and hold more fundraising events and efforts before and after the show to offset losses.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you’re unable to contribute, we completely understand, but please do come down and support the event!

If you do know of anyone who would be willing to contribute in any way, please do share this page with them. We appreciate every ounce of help.
