The Startup Magazine is a publication that provides deep insights and opinion-driven editorial content about startups, technology and innovation. With an emphasis on exploring the ‘whys’ of becoming a startup success, our magazine aims to establish itself as a starting point for everyone who is about to begin their entrepreneurial journey.
First time entrepreneurs and those interested in entrepreneurship, often do not relate with larger publications like FastCompany and Inc. Through our content, we aim to give them a nuanced and realistic insight into the world of startups. The Startup Magazine started as an online-only publication, but now it’s available as a monthly interactive publication, on mobile and tablet through the app stores.
Our target audience, and current community consist of individuals who are in full-time work or education and interested in starting their own business, but also individuals who are part of a young (1-3 year old) startup.
Building and running a startup is not a simple process, yet existing media for early stage entrepreneurs fall short in satisfying the needs of this increasingly sophisticated audience hungry for more than just skin-deep analysis. The Startup Magazine provides content that includes insights from industry experts, fresh stories from individuals running their own business and provocative think pieces.
By doing so we are able to help aspiring entrepreneurs think more critically about business, make better educated decisions for their particular project, and therefore increase their likelihood of success.
Since its inception in 2013, the Startup Magazine has evolved from a hobby business to a fully functioning international team focused on growing the company and its community.
After existing only on the web for over two years, in May 2015 the Startup Magazine launched on mobile and tablet, offering additional exclusive content not available on the web. The magazine is now available on Apple Newsstand, Google Play, and online in the private members area of our website.
We have interviewed over 200 first-time and established entrepreneurs from Europe and the US and have established key partnerships with fantastic companies in the community such as: 3beards, Get in the ring, Match Capital, Rainmaking Loft and more.
The proceeds from our campaign will be used to raise the profile of the magazine, and help us scale. In particular, the cost will cover:
Strengthening our brand across all our platforms, by creating a premium brand style, with a distinctive voice. Then advertise ourselves in appropriate publications.
Employment of a developer to further streamline the on-boarding and signup processes.
Increase our design and editorial capacity.
Hire personnel to strengthen and diversify our content. For example our short video documentaries on startups and entrepreneurship. You can see our first video below.
