Mission Statement
To provide expanded and improved viewing space for players, visitors and spectators in and around the Noel Gorman Pavilion.
Overview
Feedback from players and spectators visiting the club note the confined nature of the viewing areas in front of the dressing rooms and clubhouse. During a game, players tend to consume the vast majority of the available space, making the viewing area crowded and busy. The current clubhouse area also lacks a focal point to conduct social events and gatherings.
Proposal
To make use of the underutilised ground-level concrete slab that exists in the space between the raised concourse and the playing field by building a wooden deck structure. The deck would double available space, look contemporary & modern and provide a much improved area for viewing cricket and enjoying social occasions. Features of the project include modern decking, stainless steel wire balustrade and a continuation of the white picket fence, acting as a skirt for the entire structure.
Word from the President
The Players Deck is an exciting initiative that will further enhance the viewing capacity and aesthetics on our number 1 field Bill Albury Oval.
Already the pinnacle in terms of Grade Cricket Fields in South-East Queensland we are looking to further improve Bill Albury Oval with the addition of a timber deck structure expanding out from the concrete apron which provides the frontage to our dressing room and club room facility. The deck will provide a more spacious area for our players, supporters and of course our after match functions whilst enabling a more accessible area for the traffic thoroughfare.
Our First Grade players have come up with this initiative which continues to show their support of our club and with the assistance of the WMDCC committee we see the Players Deck continuing to improve club facilities for the current and future seasons. Graham Mapri, President WMDCC
