Emily Bradley is forced into marriage by Lord Charles Stanford, who needs her and their mutual son to secure his vast legacy. The problem is her past, which must be kept from Lord Charles’ family at all cost. For this, Emily must deny everything she is and wants to be. When she’s offered a mission as a painter at the Royal French Court to paint a portrait of Joséphine Bonaparte herself, she sees a chance to break free from her miserable life – but it means forming an alliance with the enemy of England, as well as having all her secrets come out into the open. Emily is now forced to make the hardest choice of her life: a choice that will affect the future not only for her, but also for those she cares about.
Legacy is a multi-generational, historical saga set in the regency era, complete at 124,987 words and a stand-alone novel in a planned series. It should appeal to readers of Diana Gabaldon’s books, because of the style in which it’s told, and because the story is darker and more uncompromising than most other regency era novels. It also, however, has a shimmer of elegance that will please those who enjoy Georgette Heyer or Jane Austen.
