From 1 September to 31 October 2015, the Strategic Finance team at Telstra will be undertaking a new and very fun fundraising project – K’s for Kids! K’s for Kids is a program where each participating member nominates to either loseKilograms or run/walk/swim/ride Kilometres while raising funds for kids. This year, we will be supporting Room to Read, a charity dedicated to eradicating illiteracy around the world.
Room to Read is a charity focused on children’s education in developing countries, and was co-founded by John Wood, a former Microsoft executive, in 2001. Since inception it has made a huge impact on children’s education, including enrolling 28,000 female participants in the Girls’ Education program, distributing 14.5m books in multiple local languages, constructing 1,800 schools, and establishing a further 17,000 libraries.
