We need help to provide accommodation for the volunteers that are coming to support in distributing supplies that people have donated to the ‘Jungle’ refugee camp in Calais.
Many fantastic people are donating their time and money supporting the refugee camp and we are planning on renting accommodation to enable volunteers to stay and support the relief effort for longer.
As well as enabling the volunteers to stay longer, the accommodation will support communications between the volunteer groups and enable them to keep a community together that will better serve the refugees.
None of this money or donations in kind in any way goes to the volunteers. There are hundreds of willing people working for nothing and supporting themselves with subsistence and travel expenses.
The warehousing and distribution effort at the “Jungle” – the sprawling refugee camp in Calais – is being organised by John Sloan, who has previously had a successful 30 year career in logistics. John will be spending three months setting up a lasting system to make the warehousing and supply chain work better to distribute the donated clothing, tents, sleeping bags etc. to make the life of the 5,000 people living in the camp a bit more bearable as the Autumn and Winter months set in.
