We have a strong following so far, but we will use these funds to help with advertising. Specifically, we will use the money to get better signage for the store front, purchase advertisements on social media (Facebook/Twitter), and purchase online and offline advertisements (Gothamist/DCist/Washington Post/ Etc.).
We currently have 3 restaurants (Jolene, Honeysuckle, BFF), 2 bars (Brick&Mortar, 4th Floor Wine Bar), and a coffee shop( Prequel Cafe) popping up in our incubator! We also host private events and classes (cheese, wine, and more!)
Jolene-Jolene is the culmination of Nick Sharpe’s cooking and restaurant experience from across the county. Serving contemporary mid-atlantic cuisine with a matching cocktail program, the menu will be a collection of exciting yet approachable food. Modern techniques and presentation will be employed with a special focus on the “delicious” factor. Similarly, the cocktail program will be modern take on classic cocktails: artisanal spirits, house made bitters and seasonal tinctures will be the backbone. The raw, urban interior with exposed brick and ducts will include subtle finishes to contrast the refined food and service. The casual atmosphere will be complemented with a strong focus on service that is closer to fine dining. Dinner will be served on eclectic earthen plates with a selection of antique flatware and glasses. Join us for our extended pop-up at Prequel for a preview of what Jolene will have to offer. We will be running the pop-up at 918 F Street NW through December 2015. We are open Tuesday-Saturday, 6-10pm ET. Reservations preferred at PrequelDC.com or [email protected]
Honeysuckle-Honeysuckle is a glimpse of American regional cookery with the influence of southern cuisine. Chef Hamilton Johnson will take you through culinary journeys using dishes he learned as a child growing up in the south, while mixing those techniques with abundance of produce and ingredients found in and around the Mid Atlantic region. Chef Hamilton uses creative combinations that are unexpected and pleasing to the palate. Join us for our extended pop-up at Prequel for a preview of what Honeysuckle will have to offer. We will be running the pop-up at 918 F Street NW through December 2015. We are open Monday-Friday, 5:30-10pm ET. Walk-ins welcome. Also be on the lookout for themed “supper club dinners” that we will host throughout our residency at Prequel. The first one is a 5-course foie gras dinner on Saturday, September 11 at 7pm. Tickets are available on PrequelDC.com.
BFF-BFF (Burgers.Fries.Forever.) is an artisan burger & fry restaurant. Chef Scott Hoffner makes everything from scratch including his brioche bun, tomato jam french fries, dill pickles and even his veggie burger. He uses a aged Vermont smoked cheddar cheese from Grafton Village Farm which he fabricates into an American style cheese for incredible flavor and rich creamy meltability. Each item is hand crafted with a strong attention to detail and you can truly taste the labor of love.
Brick&Mortar-Brick & Mortar serves classic and original cocktails, bringing together traditional ingredients with some undeservedly under-utilized components. We feature premium international and American craft spirits, along with local distilleries when possible. We curate a list of small-production wines from both Old and New World wine regions, while our variety of beers highlight the best local and international breweries.
What you drink is matched by what you eat. Brick & Mortar serves bold, American flavors with some awesome southern-inspired dishes.
Brick & Mortar’s menu is curated by our Beverage Director, Bryan Smith. With years of experience at some of DC’s most vibrant and engaging bar programs (Fiola Mare and Woodward Table), Bryan and the Brick & Mortar team balance refinement and originality and across their cocktail, wine, and beer programs.
