The HPS Foundation’s Mission is to support and enhance the educational efforts of students and teachers of Holdrege Public Schools by providing funding for innovative and challenging programs, learning experiences, and activities.
In 1988, the Phelps County Community Foundation granted the Holdrege Public Schools $30,000 for the purpose of establishing an endowment to benefit the Holdrege school system. In order to address decreasing school funding while retaining quality education, funds held at the Foundation can be used for inservice workshops, visiting classroom teachers, specialized equipment and programs, capital expenditures, and equipment not included in the HPS budget. Since inception, more than $230,000 has been granted for the benefit of HPS students.
The Holdrege community and alumni have supported the HPS Foundation’s goal to “Give Back to Education” by participating in the annual Golf Fundraiser, joining the Duster Alumni Association, and donating to the Foundation.
One of the HPS Foundation Committee’s goals is to extend the reach beyond the community to maintain a viable database that will help Holdrege High School Alumni keep connected and will be a valuable tool for organizing reunions and communicating with classmates. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Our goal is to continue reaching out to all alumni via email newsletters and alumni recognition features to keep them abreast of the growth, development, and success of the HPS Foundation and the Holdrege Public Schools system.
The HPS Foundation is lending a hand to a special project this year. In addition to asking for your general support of the HPS Foundation, we hope that you will also choose to dedicate a donation to the Duster Pavilion project.
The proposed Duster Pavilion project provides for construction of a new facility to house the stadium concessions, restrooms/showers, and a locker/practice room. The 150′ x 50′ building will be located in the northwest corner of the stadium complex. Please see the video slide presentation for more information. The Duster Pavilion will be used by a majority of our students and is a much needed improvement for our concession space, public restrooms, and locker/practice room space. Additionally, as the high school enrollment increases for the next several years, we have a need for the larger space.
