On 22nd September we’ll be back in the studio to start recording a new album!
This time we’ll be collaborating with CHROMA, who are a fantastic contemporary classical ensemble and a perfect partner for us on our sonic adventures. Those of you who are familiar with the title track of our last album, We Humans, will know that it was based around the sound of a string orchestra and various experiments. It was the last song we recorded for that album, almost as an afterthought, and it took us into a new direction that we’d now like to explore further.
The new album will be built on the idea of a song cycle – a collection of six songs themed around issues we care about. Collaborating with CHROMA is a great opportunity to realise our musical ideas for each of these songs by utilising the ensemble’s full sound palette. The strings, woodwinds and brass will compliment the French For Cartridge sound perfectly and help us bring more depth to the songs. As a group, CHROMA offer the right mindset to experiment and venture into new territory, which is something we like. As we work within both pop and classical music when not playing with French For Cartridge, we now want to make an album which fully combines these two sound worlds. We hope we can create something new and push the boundaries a little bit.
We are also planning to mix the album with S. Husky Höskulds, who’s worked with the likes of Tom Waits, Mike Patton, My Brightest Diamond and Ornette Coleman. We’ve been lucky to work with him on our previous two albums and would like to continue this collaboration. We love the fact that Husky’s mixes always add a whole new layer of creativity to our songs and can’t wait to hear what he will do this time!
All of this will of course cost money and we now need your help to make it happen! So please do pre-order the album here and have a look at all the exciting exclusives we have lined up for you!
WE THANK YOU!!
