As an art director in advertising, I’ve spent years sifting through stock photography. If I had to guess, in my 20-yr career I probably viewed some 845,742,923,012 images, but that may just be how it felt. I find that when I look at stock photos, I experience the same uncomfortable feeling I have when a bank teller asks me with a forced smile, how my morning is goin’ or when I eat soy based meatloaf. It’s not simply that my teller’s greeting and the meat substitute are fake, it’s how hard they pretend that they’re not – that bothers me. I can no longer sit idly by as the phonies and fakes of the world go unpunished. Which is why I need to publish this book.
I’m sure you understand as you yourself have been assaulted by bad stock photography on a daily basis.
My response… with Photoshop 6.0 and my own raw emotion I give stock photos what they are missing… a soul.
One of the reasons I am so excited to publish this book is that the format allows for me to explore tons of new Stock Photobombs!
– Stock Photobombs where I feed various food items to stock photo models
– Throwback Stock photobombs of my Great Uncle Angelo Vescovo photobombing super old stock photos from the 1940s.
– A section called when Stock Photo models attack, where Stock Photo models get revenge by photobombing my personal family photos. (How rude)
– Several new Stock Photobombs where I do even stupider stuff than I’ve already done and embarrass myself more than I already have.
All together there will be about 60 -70 new stock photobombs!

Initially my crusade started as a photoblog on Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter, my friends who are younger than I am told me it went viral whatever that means. It was featured on Reddit (3 million views) Buzzfeed (1.5 million views) Huffington Post, College Humor, Playboy.com, The Telegrapher, Adweek, Bored Panda and The Laughing Squid. I was even interviewed by an Australian TV show and a Russian one. (slow news day I guess) I even got recognized by someone who works at my local pizzeria, which was weird, but on the flip side we got extra meatballs on our pizza that night.
All this positive feedback has steeled my resolved to continue to photobomb stock photos, no matter how grueling and draining it may be for me. If hearing that makes you really, really happy, then please donate.
