Creating income and exposure for unknown
township artists talent, expressed visiblly on township houses
The art community within townships in South Africa lacks the business skills to make a living from their artwork. This section of the unemployed in South Africa needs the opportunity to be exposed for their artistic talents in order to be seen by potential buyers and earn a living.
Project Butterfly Effect aims to solve this problem by giving the township artists commercial exposure and an income source through giving them a platform where they can artistically transform the walls of township houses in order to uplift the township community. Resources for the art materials and remuneration for the artists labor will be sponsored by companies or individuals that want to give back to the community or want to be involved in CSR. The artwork produced on the township houses will be photographed and made into wallpapers. The wallpapers will be sold to buyers to generate income to fund the artists and Butterfly effect project.
Companies and individuals sponsor the painting of a single house. 70 % of the funds generated goes towards purchasing material, 10% goes towards producing the wallpaper and 20% goes towards the artist. Companies will have the opportunity to market themselves as their brand can be painted with the graffiti painting to show their association with Butterfly Effect and market them as a company. We will sell wallpapers to community members within the township, on our websites and in retail stores to tourists, corporates and public.
Why get involved?
