Save Our Farm Boy
I’ve met a people from a lot of different walks of life doing this, but the group I didn’t realize would flock to my page? Farmers, because I write about the science behind farming practices. And amongst them was my most ardent supporter, Wes Neilson, a chicken farmer from Onalaska, Washington. He became more than a fan, he became a friend.
Even back when my page was very tiny, Wes was an incredibly ardent supporter. And being a farmer named Wes- and me being a child of the 80s and mildly addicted to the movie The Princess Bride- he earned himself the nickname Farm Boy.
A week ago, while I was out of the country on business, I was scrolling through facebook and saw a picture in my feed of a fire. It was his farm. The entire operation went up in smoke. Being the type of person who copes by making wry jokes, he said that he’d been offering free BBQ chicken.
Here’s the news story of what happened: http://www.chronline.com/fire-reported-near-salkum-propane-tank-threatened/article_cb25087a-46c8-11e5-a49e-1b828b6d46cb.html
He’s insured as well as he should have been for this kind of emergency, but insurance will always only cover so much in these types of situations. And as much as he could use a LOT more than this, I’m asking my followers to help him rebuild to $35k. The more, the better. I’m donating some labor to help (both with my writing and videos), and every last dollar goes to Wes’s farm. He could use a new loader.
The organophiles are always talking about saving the small farmer. Here’s your chance to actually save this one farmer.
Shill Army is counting on you to #SaveOurFarmBoy.
