iCrowdNewswire - Aug 24, 2015

Help transform Stockwell High Street

The funds raised will pay for:
Design sessions in local schools, local resident groups, local community groups.
Creative workshops where local groups will learn the art of mosaic and tile making creating section for the 60 metre long wall around the raised bed.
Frost proof tiles, paint, cement and grout
Team to install the art work
This will create a unique focal point for the high street and bring colour and life to the area putting Stockwell on the map! PLEASE NOTE – image is an artistic impression only.

What we’ll do:

  • Mosaic & paint the large raised bed at Surridge Court Stockwell

Why it’s a great idea:

Putting high quality community art work in the public realm can transform communities and be a catalyst for change. Stockwell high street currently experiences high levels of anti social behaviour and gang crime. This project will bring local businesses, residents and schools together to have a positive impact on their environment. It will allow residents to feel a sense of ownership and pride in their local area.
Art4Space will facilitate the project and have been serving the community for over 15 years. We care about our environment and the people who live and work in it. We have a proven track record of delivering large scale projects in communities and engaging with every group in society to achieve this. Our work is accessible to all and very sustainable and will require little or no maintenance.

How we’ll get it done:

  • Phase 1 – Get support from local businesses, residents, local community groups. Funding and endorsements
  • Phase 2 – Continue with support, getting pledges
  • Phase 3 – find out if successful in Mayors bid (High Street Fund)
  • Phase 4 – If YES – plan series of workshops, with everyone in community to design and create the mosaic.
  • Phase 4 – IF NO – continue fundraising if we have enough local support for the project.
  • Phase – installation of mosaic to raised bed and celebration day with community
