Creating a new SUPER ECO Coffee Roastery – Dorset

Creating a new SUPER ECO Coffee Roastery - Dorset

Project aim

We are developing our new Coffee Roastery to be super Eco Friendly so we can provide the most environmentally friendly coffee on the planet! Reducing our carbon footprint to Zero and reducing our industry waste to Zero is our ultimate aim and we strongly believe this is possible.

About the project

We have been roasting and distributing coffee now for over 8 years and have grown considerably from the cottage industry we started as. We pride ourselves as leaders in innovation in the coffee roasting industry and are always looking for new and improved ways to deliver a quality product at a great value to the trade and consumer. We have spent a great deal of time researching the future demands being placed on the industry and the largest of these is the environmental status of this popular beverage.

With growing attention being given to many other manufacturing processes and their impact on the environment, the coffee industry should not be excluded. This rapidly growing industry plays a a large factor in Carbon production which is only set to increase as the coffee culture continues to grow (and will continue to do so for a good while to come).

We therefore recognise the need to try and make a difference, pay attention to our own green credentials and carbon footprint and to help others do the same. This is why we have decided to try and make a difference with our new Green Eco Coffee Roastery. We aim to employ new technologies, existing low energy technologies and eco friendly products to significantly lower our carbon output and to actively seek to promote these technologies and products to the coffee trade and consumers. Our ultimate goal is to become ZERO WASTE and CARBON NEUTRAL as a company by 2020. This is not going to happen overnight and will involve gradually introducing new measures along the journey, but we need to start with some high impact changes.

There are a number of technologies and products we can begin with – such as Solar Power, recycled heat from our roasters, LED technology, fully biodegradable and compostable packaging, waste recycling, carbon offsetting and green transportation. All parts of our big plan to deliver the most environmentally friendly coffee on the planet! A bold statement – but aiming high is to realise the real potential of a great idea. We just need your help to raise the funds to do this successfully.

We are moving into our new roastery in September and aim to make as many changes to the way we operate in a more environmentally friendly way before and during the big move. There is a mountain of projects and tasks that need to get done including: have the warehouse lighting changed over to LED, fit solar panels to the roof, fit new carbon filters to our roaster exhaust, buy new eco packaging and labelling plant and supplies, buy a waste compactor and cardboard bailler, employ extra staff to help pack our new product and to recycle our old waste.

Unfortunately although we have the enthusiasm and the contacts to help us with this, funding is where we currently fall short and having already invested over £100k on existing equipment we need help reach our target to bring this project to life!

We recognise the value in Crowdfunding and realise that the rewards for your pledged money need to reflect your support and so we have some great reward structures in place for those looking to help us out, epsecially if you are in the trade as we can supply you the most environmentally friendly coffee on the planet – and plenty of advertising along with it to boost your own green story!

We welcome any questions you may have and encourage you to get in touch and involved.

Thank You
