Eat for a better world!
Join Dinnerbox to help reduce food waste.
Back us and help us realize our concept Dinnerbox that will reduce our environmental footprint while saving people time and money. Dinnerbox turns unsold restaurant lunches into dinners.
The Dinnerbox idea
It all started with a stressed life with little time to sit down around the dinner table together with family and friends. At the same time Camilla knew that lunch restaurants couldn´t predict how many guests that would eat every day and had difficulties preparing the right amount of food. This resulted in enormous food waste for restaurants. By merging these needs Camilla started a web page where restaurants could post their unsold lunches every day, letting consumers buy today’s dinner on their way home from work.
The three needs.
Dinnerbox has been developed based on three needs:
- Make it easy in the everyday lives of those who doesn´t have the time to cook dinner. Less stress.
- Reduce restaurant’s food waste and increase profitability.
- Work for a better environment. Wasting food is an ethical and economic issue and it also depletes the environment of limited natural resources.
The Dinnerbox concept is unique. This is how it works.
How the service works: The restaurants unsold lunches are posted at Dinnerbox website [www.dinnerbox.se] (http://dinnerbox.se). The customer goes to the website, orders dinner between 14:00-16:00, then pick up the order at the choosen restaurant between 16:00-18:00. Payment is made directly through the Dinnerbox website. The reason we are so strict with the hours is that the service must not compete with the restaurant’s regular sales. Dinnerbox competitors in the market are fast food restaurants and precooked packaged meals.
Our peer to peer system connects restaurants with food to spare with hungry stressed out consumers that wants a quality dinner fast. The consumer market will grow as the stress levels and value people put on time and quality food increases. The Swedish market will be first, but eventually the concept will be spread through international partnerships and deals.
The business model.
Every restaurant will pay a low basic subscription fee (currently 240 SEK/month) to be part of Dinnerbox. Every sold box will then generate some additional percentage of the total reveue back to Dinnerbox, while the restaurant keeps the majority of the revenue.
What will the money be used for?
The requested capital will primarily be used to roll out Dinnerbox across Sweden to make sure we reduce food waste substantially and at the same time give stressed out people all over the country the opportunity to buy good and quick dinners!
