Archived: Support Greeks In Need Via Indiegogo Campaign From Locals & Expats

iCrowdNewswire - Jul 31, 2015

Indiegogo Campaign Name: OPA! I Support Greece

Indiegogo Campaign URL: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/opa-i-support-greece

A crowdfunding campaign for real Greek people in need (not debt, nor creditors)

What is the “OPA! I Support Greece” IndieGogo Campaign for?

An initiative by Greek natives, that have combined their efforts from Greece and the US, in an effort to generate money for Greek people in need.

We hope that this campaign will raise significant awareness regarding the Humanitarian crisis that has hit Greece over the last 5 years.

Unfortunately, the people in need are increasing year by year. Severe austerity has hit Greek entrepreneurship, hurting employability in Greece and making people losing their jobs, and most importantly their hope.

Why are you doing this campaign, guys?

Our goal is to raise money for Greek people in need.

Although we have set a very low and realistic goal of $100,000, we would really like to see this campaign raise $1 million.

Our goals:

  • Boost local products & services
  • Raise money for food & other essentials for Greek people in need

We don’t claim to have the ability to change the fate of every person living below the poverty line in Greece, with our small Indiegogo campaign. However, we are willing to try our best and give it our all.

Can you spread the word?

We are not experts in PR, nor do we know the right people in major media. We depend on professionals like you to help us build some buzz and bring awareness for this important cause.

What about the perks? Who will they benefit?

Almost all perks are from small Greek family operated businesses that can showcase their products, and services which will help them survive, stay in business and to keep their employees. In many cases they have supplied us with below market value prices, or donated their goods to help as much as they can as well.

What remains after these costs, will go 100% towards food coupons from a national supermarket chain Sklavenitis, to those Greeks that are unemployed, homeless & people having more than four (4) children (verified by their unemployment card, or have demonstrated their need to any other charitable organization or the Greek Orthodox Church). Each 50 euro coupon can sustain a family of four for about a week.
