Help keep Jumbo Valley wild forever
For over twenty years, people in the Kootenays have fought to keep Jumbo Valley wild. When the first proposals to build ski lifts, and more than 6000 accommodations in the valley, wilderness lovers mobilized right away.
School teachers, soccer moms, store owners, and people from all walks of life wasted no time telling the BC government that the Jumbo Valley should be left to the bears, wolverines, deer, elk, marmots, caribou, and eagles.
Although the BC Provincial government has revoked the project’s environmental permits, the developer is promising to go to court, alter the project, or start the environmental permitting process over again. Meanwhile, the appointed mayor of the Town of Nothing has said that the council exists to support resort development.
The West Kootenay EcoSociety will be in BC Supreme Court on July 15 to force the province to dissolve the City with no citizens and we need your help! West Coast Environmental Law is supporting our cause, but we still need to raise thousands of dollars to pay for court fees!
Please contribute to our campaign to make our voice heard in court and in the legislature, and to protect the unique values of Jumbo Valley for future generations.
