Powered by our popular Remix OS, Remix Mini allows you to work and play with the entire Android app ecosystem while taking full advantage of intuitive PC features such as a taskbar, multiple window multi-tasking, mouse and keyboard support, and so much more.
But not in the traditional PC sense. While everyone else is spending top dollar for the latest hardware specs just to check their email and watch Youtube videos, we realized that there’s SO much more to creating a great PC. Through its carefully engineered optimization of hardware and software, Remix Mini is able to undeniably live up to its motto: less can be more.
The Remix Mini features a capacitive touch power button unlike any PC of its kind. Rather than awkwardly feeling around the back panel for that elusive power button, just gently tap the top of your Mini. Within seconds you’ll be able to start working and surfing the internet as you would with any other computer
Remix Mini is powered by the latest 64-bit chipset and delivers up to 20-30% better performance than its 32-bit counterparts. At the core of what makes this so special is actually what Remix Mini doesn’t need you to do. You will never have to worry about whether you’re installing the right bit version ever again. With Android, it all just works.
Even at its small size, Remix Mini comes equipped with everything you need in order to stay connected: Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB. All of these options gives Remix Mini an unprecedented level of versatility for its size.
The typical desktop computer clocks in at anywhere between 65 to 250 watts. Remix Mini gives you the same power of desktop computing at a mere 10 watts. By simply leveraging already existing power efficiencies found in mobile CPU architectures, Remix Mini is able to save you so much more in power without sacrificing anything in performance.
To whom much is given, much is expected. Remix Mini comes in two versions. Both run Remix OS smoothly, but vary depending on how you plan on using your Mini. As a home media center, the 1G RAM + 8 GB storage gives you more than what you need to stream and download that blockbuster movie you’ve been dying to see. Now, if you’re looking for something with a bit more kick and productivity in mind, we highly recommend the 2G RAM + 16GB storage version. No matter what you decide, the choice will quite literally be in your hands.
At the core of the Remix Mini is our custom engineered version of Android Lollipop – Remix OS. Our state of the art operating system is the cornerstone to all of our hardware. With its multitude of productivity oriented features combined with over 1.5 million apps, Remix OS seamlessly merges functionality, ease of use, and beauty in amazing ways to give you an unforgettable Android experience. Our first Kickstarter project introduced our Remix Ultratablet to the world. Some of you might be wondering why we’ve moved into the realm of PCs.
Tablets and desktop PCs are hardware form factors – vessels, if you will. It is the software running inside that gives the device life, directly dictating the experience you have with it. A perfect industrial design is meaningless if the OS is difficult to use.
People tend to identify PC and mobile operating systems as different animals because they run on different devices. While most of the operating systems in the market embrace this distinction, we believe bridging this divide is the next evolutionary phase of what an OS should be.
Remix OS is the embodiment of that evolution. It is our vision of an agile operating system. It keeps the advantages of being a mobile OS, while adding the tools that define a PC operating system. Here’s how we measure up against some other mobile and PC operating systems.
Our last Kickstarter put Remix OS to the test in a mobile device – the Remix ultra-tablet. Now, we’re putting Remix OS on the Remix Mini to showcase its ability to run as a PC.
Our founders are three ex-Google engineers who’ve accrued more than 26 years combined working at Google HQ. The products they’ve had a hand in leading or building have been used by over 2 billion people in the world.
Jeremy Chau (1st software engineer on Google AdWords): “Our vision is more than just this product. We want to make tools for people to create & communicate, and then watch them being used in innovative ways we never imagined.”
David Ko (Lead engineer on AdWords mobile for SME): “Building an operating system takes time and a lot of hard work. But building a great operating system takes more than that. It takes a lot of feedback from the community who use it everyday.”
Ben Luk (Lead engineer on Google Maps, Asia): “Be a part of our community. Engage with us and Remix will reflect your ideas and what you need from your personal computing.”
The idea of Remix started in early 2013 as just a software vision. People have and use mobile OS’ for fun, but creating content is just painful and sometimes impossible.
As we were building Remix OS, we looked in the market for big tablets to show off our software. We discovered a market full of sub-par options. So, we decided to build our own hardware to unleash the potential of Remix OS.
Earlier this year, we launched a Kickstarter to release our Remix Ultratablet to global users for the first time. The resulting support was astounding. We successfully launched, funded, and fulfilled our campaign within two months. The subsequent feedback from our first Kickstarter community has been invaluable in enhancing the Remix user experience even further.
Three months ago, you, the Kickstarter community, made our dream come true, giving the world its first Android-based productivity tablet. Now after shipping to 27 countries around the world, we are still completely humbled by the overwhelming support we’ve received to date. With your feedback, we’ve been able to take our core software powering the Remix tablet, Remix OS, to the next level.
Android is the operating system of the future and we want to accelerate the arrival of that future. As the most popular OS in the world that runs on phones and tablets, Android has begun extending itself into other parts of our lives – such as Android Wear, Android Auto and Android TV.
However, Android has yet to be adapted for productivity and ease of use on PCs. For Android to truly take its next evolutionary step, it needs to be optimized for content creation in a PC environment and go beyond what it is now. We innovated Remix OS to do just that and take Android to another level.
Renowned computer scientist Alan Key once said, “people who are serious about software should make their own hardware.” We buy into this ideal and Remix Mini is just the next installment of this vision – unleashing the power of Android through Remix OS in devices of all shapes and sizes.
MANUFACTURING
We have a dedicated team located within a 30 min drive from the manufacturer so that we can deal with issues that may arise in person and in real time. Our team is staffed with experienced professionals in the sourcing and hardware manufacturing industries. Their expertise and proximity to the factory should be able to mitigate any of the manufacturing issues that may come up.
INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS
We’re working with highly experienced logistics partners to help us mitigate any of the issues that may arise with shipping. If shipping issues come up, their expert knowledge will help us navigate through difficulties and help us get Remix into your hands.
