My love affair with pug puppies began when my granny traveled down from Canada with a tiny fawn-colored pug puppy named Bambi. It was love at first lick. From that point on we were inseparable. She was at my side as I sold lemonade on the corner and yarn animals door to door. Many years later, my three pugs Fawn, Faith and Fern continue to inspire my entrepreneurial efforts with the Three Pug Bakery. I also have plans to one day open a Bed and Breakfast/Gastropug for people and their pets.
Business Description
Last summer, I shared some of my cinnamon flax trail mix with a friend. A few weeks later, she asked if she could have more. The requests began to roll in. I soon launched The Three Pug Bakery, which specializes in healthy, seasonal flax seed trail mixes. Before long I inaugurated new flavors (ex. Spring Cherry Blossom and Butterscotch Sea Salt). Coconut sugar sweetens both my trail mixes and baked goods. I also offer alternative flours like almond and buckwheat.
A few months ago, I was introduced to the East End Shared Kitchen at the Santa Ana 4th St. Market where I found a welcome home to begin my commercial enterprise. I am in the process of developing new summer flavors and healthy sweet potato dog treats, selling them at festivals, boutiques and farmers markets. Giving back to the community is extremely important to me. I give back to the pugs I love with 10% of my proceeds going to Pugs ‘N Roses Pug Rescue in Anaheim, CA. One day, I also dream of opening The Three Pug Inn Bed and Breakfast/Gastropug; a haven of delicious, healthy food and respite for people and their pets.
What is the purpose of this loan?
With professional labels/printing materials ($3,000.00) and a website ($1000.00), I will be able to distribute my product into more venues and markets as well as have increased exposure. I plan to use the remaining $1000.00 for marketing and advertising (ex. professionally printed business cards, postcards etc.)
