Last year, 30 families benefited from our subsidized farm share program, which runs a family about $15 per week for a full vegetable share. This year, we’ve expanded the program to enroll 50 qualifying families — our neighbors and friends — through our Feed the Farm Share campaign.
To meet the needs of these families, we need to raise $20,000 this season. Please show your support here on ioby, or look for the donation jar at the sign-in table when you pick up your veggies. Help make sure that everyone in Crown Heights has continued access to healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables!
The funds we raise this December and January will go to the subsidized share fund in 2014. During the spring, current beneficiaries of the subsidized share program are part of an ambassador program to let families in Crown Heights know that the CSA can be available to anyone, no matter what their income. Enrollment begins in March 2014.
The subsidized share program since 2009 has been supported by the generosity of members of Crown Heights and Brooklyn Bridge CSAs, Sang Lee Farms and Briermere Farms.
Everyone deserves access to healthy food. By expanding the subsidized share program, we’re giving more families access to fresh, healthy food, with all the benefits that brings. Together we can reduce food insecurity and associated health issues in Crown Heights, while strengthening and growing the community who benefit from the farm share.
