Dallas, TX July 15, 2015 – The buried treasures in America are not buried at all, at least not yet. Stay Young Media Group, LLC has launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a documentary entitled Capturing Wisdom: Centuries of Inspiration.
There are over 53,000 centenarians in the US, a number that has grown 65.8% in the last three decades. Their stories need to be captured before it’s too late. Stay Young Media Group plans to extract some of that wisdom, through candid interviews, so it can be shared now and kept for future generations.
“These people are amazing. They offer such hope and inspiration because they have been there and done the things most of us only read about. Advice on overcoming obstacles and keeping a positive outlook is something we can all benefit from,” says Judy Gaman of the Stay Young Media Group. She knows because during the research for their latest book Age to Perfection: How to Thrive to 100, Happy, Healthy, and Wise, she and her husband Walter Gaman, MD and their partner Mark Anderson, MD interviewed dozens of people in their nineties and many over one hundred.
Dr. Anderson explains, “The feeling you get when you sit with these wonderful people is something that doesn’t translate to print. That is why the documentary is so important. We want to share the hope and love they exude. You think we are going through change in this county now – they are the kings and queens of change. Not only have they have seen it all, they embraced every moment. Perhaps their love of others and ability to adapt is why they are still here.”
The documentary Capturing Wisdom: Centuries of Inspiration needs financial support. The Kickstarter campaign offers sponsorship opportunities from $25 to $10,000. Of course, donations above $10,000 will also be graciously accepted. Each level comes with a reward, but those who sponsor at the highest level also have the opportunity for their active and exciting loved one who is ninety or older participate in the documentary. The creators are calling on individuals, corporations, and non-profits who want to make a difference.
“Lucille, who is now 103, is just one of those that has changed our lives. I want everyone to have a Lucille, or someone like her, in their life. This is a way to give America some grandparents. So many of us have lost the opportunity to listen to the stories of our ancestors, but we still have the opportunity to hear from their generation,” states Dr. Gaman. Lucille Fleming is the face of the documentary and many of the raw footage of their interviews with her can be seen on the Stay Young Media Group YouTube Channel.
