POPESICAL, a papal musical comedy, at FringeNYC: In the Sistine Chapel, Cardinals compete to be Pope. Forbidden love! Sacrilege! Song-and-dance!

POPESICAL, a papal musical comedy, at FringeNYC

POPESICAL is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the purposes of POPESICAL must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

About:

The Pope is dead. The Cardinals gather in the Sistine Chapel to choose a new Pope. No one has ever seen what happens – until now. The backbiting. The sacrilege. The hilarious song-and-dance.

They will compete in top secret “Papal Challenges” to prove their worthiness.  Masks, courtesy and piety are stripped away as the Cardinals discover who they really are—and what it really takes to be Pope.

The Fringe is the first step in the development of the show, and future plans include full-scale productions of POPESICAL. Maybe the Pope will request a command performance at the Vatican! (Though we’re not holding our breath.)
