San Antonio, Texas – July 8, 2015 – New Startup Raggtree announced today that it is raising funds via a rewards / equity crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to finish the development of their new and exciting e-commerce platform for new and gently used Name Brand and Designer Clothing and Accessories.
Raggtree (also referred to as “the Company”) is an e-commerce and online auction platform for clothing and accessories. Founded by Samuel Andrade Jr. in 2014, “Raggtree” developed from the concept of the word itself. “Ragg” is to clothes as “tree” is to body, thus Raggtree.
An individual’s style, clothing or overall wardrobe can be inquired upon by asking “What’s on your Raggtree.” Inspired by the term, Samuel set out to start a company that embodied the energy and hip style the word itself emotes.
With no similar e-commerce platform currently in operation, Raggtree is ripe with opportunity. Raggtree is committed to providing an experience, not just a venue, for individuals to buy or sell new or not so new, name brand, and designer clothing, clothing accessories (such as handbags, wallets, jewelry and watches, sunglasses, shoes, etc.) and health and beauty products. Through Raggtree’s stylized website and efficient e-commerce functionality, the consumer will know that Raggtree is the place to go for vintage or new fashion web shopping.
Raggtree’s e-commerce platform will function much like its predecessors with the exception of the introduction of a feature, Video-Tagging. Sellers using the website have the choice of posting pics as well as a video of their item with dialogue for a more personal touch. Sellers also have the option of running an auction or charging a flat fee plus optional shipping costs for an item they are selling. Buyers interested in a product can pursue a purchase according to the sale type established by the seller. Raggtree differentiates itself with its vertical approach to e-commerce. Through carrying popular brands that range in price and quality—such as Abercrombie, Ed Hardy, Gap Hollister, Lily Pulizer, True Religion, and more—Raggtree provides a welcoming space where shoppers can go to find New or Gently used Apparel and accessories at discounted prices, from the comfort of their homes or when out shopping to compare.
With Raggtree, the sellers of individual products are in charge of moving inventory and listing it on the website for buyers to access. While sellers are allowed to cover the cost of shipping to encourage sales, buyers pay the shipping cost by default unless otherwise noted, and the seller sets the shipping price. Raggtree will derive revenue from charging 8% to 10% commission on the total price of every sale. As the Company continues to grow, revenue derived from ads is another income stream possibility. However, the forefront of the Company’s business model is commission from the e-commerce sales.
