EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 2 2015 –
New accessible luxury label CLAN (clan.com) launches with Kickstarter smashing half of its £25,000 target in just four days.
The line launched by top Scottish textile house, Scotweb, gives customers the rare opportunity to buy premium cashmere for up to 80% off.
The product is of a quality normally supplied to ultra high end labels, to sell under their own brand at 5x more the Kickstarter price of £75.
Scottish cashmere of this quality is very different to what is found on the high street, using only the finest premium fibres for strength, softness and textured with an exclusive ripple finish.
Scotweb owners, Nick & Adele Fiddes, run Scotland’s oldest and largest online heritage retailer. It was Scotland’s first secure ecommerce venture in 1995, and the world’s first online retailer to offer made-to-measure clothing. They also own a historic mill in the Scottish Borders.
Owner Nick Fiddes says “Lots of people are surprised we’re using crowdfunding for such an exclusive product. But quality cashmere is expensive to produce, and we’ve never been able to afford the stocks to launch our own wholesale label. This lets us build a community of people who love our product, with pre-ordering that takes the risk out of it for everyone. Our customers get a fabulous bargain and a beautiful accessory. We get our costs way down and stocks to sell elsewhere. We all win!”
