My dream =Record an album in Mexico

The story of the project

So I had an epiphany a few years ago. I was listening to Julieta Venegas and her songs just uplifted me so much that I thought to myself, ‘ I want to do that, I can do that’.
So I started writing songs. It is not a joke that music can save peoples lives, it is real. To me, it is an artists duty to humanity to communicate and express as much love as possible.

I want my songs to be more than just songs, I want them to be like mantras, like portable poems of peace that people can take with them. I want my music to be an oasis.

How the funds will be used

I will dedicate $2000 towards flights to Mexico.
$2000 will cover accomodation and food expenses while in Mexico.
$3000 will cover my recording expenses, as the album will be mostly acoustic.
I will also employ local musicians in Mexico to play accordion and percussion on some tracks. I will budget $1500 for this.
I would also like to film a music video while in Mexico for one of my songs. I envisage this to cost $1500.
Pressing of the physical CD will cost $2000 for a run of 1000 units.

Some of my other work

I have released 3 Spanish/Mediterranean guitar instrumental albums independently. ‘Mi Guitarra’, ‘Guitarra del Sol’, and ‘Relax Guitarra’. I have busked, gigged and performed at countless locations over the years.

The music industry is forever changjng. The way the public consumes music at present can be difficult to make commercially viable for the artist. However, I believe this is balanced out by the fact that artists can reach a global audience at the click of a button.
Realistically, an artist is a business, without compromising the integrity of the artist, it is totally possible to create a commercially viable and quality product that sells in high volumes.
Drawing on my Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), I plan to promote my album using social media. I will leverage off the music video that I produce also. I have organized a live performance with the Coyoacan council in Mexico city, which I will film and use as another promotional tool.
My main marketing philosophy is that the product must do most of the work. I have worked hard to refine my craft and deliver it with love. I believe love should be included in the marketing mix in all university curriculums!
