This is a true crowd sourcing request. I’m appealing to 100,000 of my closest and dearest friends far and wide regardless if we know each other or not. If you believe in crowd sourcing to help start-ups and entrepreneurs, then this crowd sourcing request hits the sweet spot. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Texan or Yankee; a 12th Man from Aggieland or Seattle; east coast yuppie or west coast surfing dude or somewhere in between, if you would like to support a wild eye attempt to raise funding for a start-up, then you are one of my 100,000 closest friends.
Laughing Cowboy Enterprises was formed with the objective of acquiring a FM radio station in a location outside the large metropolitan areas to bring a wide variety of music and news/views to a populace currently being underserved. Large areas of the country have accessed to limited radio service duplicating pop, oldie, country stations, some owned by Clear Channel, Town Square Media or Cumulus, but many owned by small businesses (mom and pop) who continue with the format they used back in the ‘80s and ‘90s (I’ve experienced this first hand, as the radio station in my home county I listened to as a teenager in the ‘70s still uses the same format). Into this mix, Laughing Cowboy brings alternative rock, jazz, classical, urban and the kitchen sink.
We will grow our DJs, they won’t be cookie cutter zombies trying to imitate other jocks from around the country. Rather, they will be encouraged to educate themselves to be well rounded and knowledgeable of a wide range of fields and views; and, develop a unique style which suits them and the local community. Most importantly, the DJs will be encouraged to have fun and share with their audience. Bottom-line, our DJs will be a compilation of unique individuals.
So, back to my request to my 100,000 closest friends, I’m asking that you contribute $5 to this cause and to encourage 100,000 of your closest friends to make a similar contribution. We’re trying to raise $500,000 to get us off the ground. This will cover a significant down payment or the outright purchase of a station, license transfer process with FCC and then provide for a few months of operations.
