Gigmor’s mission is to connect millions of musicians and bands worldwide to career and gigging opportunities. We believe that live music is one of the most powerful and emotional experiences known to mankind. As Bono said, “Music can change the world because it can change people.” What gets us stoked every morning is helping musicians play more music, whether it’s jamming for fun, getting discovered or making a living doing what they love.
Gigmor acts as Tinder for musicians by matching them with other players and bands. We’ve applied the dating model to musician matching by developing a proprietary algorithm for musical compatibility that creates a simple way for musicians to meet the right players and bands, organize events (jam sessions, auditions, workshops), and connect with paying gigs and other career opportunities.
FACT: Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) was actually Nirvana’s third drummer when he joined the band and they went on to change music history!
THE PROBLEM
Musicians love to perform but talent buyers are overwhelmed with booking requests from bands. To solve this problem, we’re developing Gigscore, a proprietary analytics tool, to help talent buyers find the RIGHT emerging artists—Klout for bands.
THE SOLUTION
Gigmor’s booking engine will leverage our matching technology to create a marketplace for live music acts, connecting them to paying gigs at venues, festivals, colleges and private events.
Live music revenues are a $30B/year global business and growing fast: ticket sales are up over 30% in 5 yrs. Musicians at all stages of their careers HAVE to perform to replace what they used to earn from royalties.
Gigmor’s revenues will primarily be a blend of premium subscriptions and transaction fees. Independent bands and musicians earn an estimated $3B/year. We believe the time savings and convenience offered by our technology will help us grow fast and capture a significant share of live music bookings in the next few years.
Our goal is to create a global network of musicians, bands and industry professionals such as talent buyers, venue managers, artist managers, record label talent scouts, Film/TV supervisors. The potential market is huge: there are 43 million musicians and 10,000 venues in the US alone.
We’ve grown fast since launching in October, 2014. Our member base has grown to 40,000 emerging artists and we’ve generated over 150,000 matches connecting musicians, bands and industry pros. But we’re just getting started.
