Fahrenheit 2451 Nanoforms are stunning sapphire disks embedding your most precious data and preserving them forever.
Synthetic sapphire is the 2nd hardest material, just after diamond.
Water, acid, light, cold, heat – we mean LAVA heat – will not deteriorate the information encapsulated inside. In a fire, this thin, elegant, transparent work of art will be the only object left unscathed.

Everything fade and disappear with time. Not the Nanoform : time will not alter the support – as with paper -, nor erase its content – as with digital drives.
CDs, USB keys or hard drives get damaged and will eventually stop working with your new computer. The Cloud gets hacked, bursts when companies disappear and dematerializes your information.
The nanoform is yours to keep: in your hands, around your neck, or on your mantelpiece.
We use a high-precision laser to engrave data on a thin sapphire wafer; then we fuse it to another wafer and a Nanoform is born.

The amount of data we can engrave is simply amazing: we reduce the surface of your contents by 30,000 but keep its quality and definition.
On one of our prototypes, we engraved War and Peace of Tolstoï – every single page of it.
You may ask: how do you access these data? When we write at the smallest size, every character has a height of 10 microns. It’s smaller than the thickness of a human hair!
With your eyes you will discern the pages, not the text. As these are analogical data, methods to retrieve information are numerous:
- A powerful magnifying glass.
- A camera with a macro-lens: a simple picture will make the content readable!
- A digital microscope, whichwill display the images and texts directly on your computer for around $100.
- A high-resolution scanner.

Sapphire looks amazing everywhere, even on you !
Documents are shrunk 30,000 times (that is over 170 times in each direction) and engraved between two thin sapphire wafers using high-precision photolithography technology.

Manufacturing takes place in a clean room environment so that nothing interferes with your data – not even a speck of dust. The wafers are then fused together – no glue is used in the process – leaving the nanoform unalterable.
The final nanoform is a beautiful object, readable anytime, anywhere. A simple magnifying glass is enough to read the data preserved in this high-tech jewel-like disk of sapphire.
The nanoform also comes with an online viewing platform to navigate and zoom into a specific photo or text, display the content on TV or share it with a friend.

So far 8” professional nanoforms have been available to industries and government agencies. They have been deposited unharmed on the ocean floor (Greenpeace, 2013), and they will soon be sent to the moon (Carnegie Mellon University Moon Arts project, 2016).
With the Fahrenheit 2451 project, we want to make personal nanoforms available to anyone.

The personal nanoform, delivered in a see-through, shock-resistant case.
You can order today your 1″ sapphire medallion or your personal nanoform (2” or 4”), or make a smaller contribution and leave your message on “La Nanoform”, a 8” Nanoform that will be stored forever in a museum.
- 1” sapphire medallion necklace: a single picture up to 12,000 x 12,000 pixels composed by the customer of several photos or a scanned artwork or a scanned hand-written sheet will be treated as an image. Some photos or texts can be visible to the naked eye.

Timeline of the project
We defined a precise plan for Nanoforms delivery, based on our experience with professional customers (government agencies and industries).
Every contribution will be useful for the project! We need $49,000 to start the production of large numbers of Nanoforms. The following contributions will be used to create new functionalities : custom design of the Nanoform’s content (a big and artistic design for example), Nanoforms in color, etc.

A painting from HOPARE, a french graffiti painter, which represents Marie José Chombart de Lauwe. She was a french resistant during World War 2 and this painting was done to show that the resistants were not forgotten.

The Kolor Team has worked on complex image-stitching projects and has acquired great experience in solving the hardest issues. Since 2008, Kolor has also developed knowledge and experience in 360-degree video stitching. We put this unique knowledge at your disposal for your projects.
Joomeo is a storage platform that allows to share HD photos or videos in private networks with a high level of security. Joomeo developed an ultra-modern, intuitive interface for easy management of HD videos and photos.
The nanoforms have been expressly conceived to last and resist fire, water, acid, rodants, cold and heat – we mean LAVA heat. Imagine just for a second that your pet gets to play with your most precious photo album or CD/ DVD or USB key. Spine-tingling, isn’t it? Not anymore once you’ll have your own nanoform!
However, please note that the nanoform has its nemesis (at least for the moment): hammers.
“La Nanoform” (8”) will be manufactured if we get enough backers to fill 25% of it, otherwise we will manufacture an 4” nanoform that will be stored in a museum.
The first 2000 medallions will be delivered by end of october 2015. If there are more to produce, we will need a 1 extra month for each 1000 medallions.
Our maximum production capacity today is 300 medallions/month + 120 2’’nanoforms/month + 30 4’’ nanoforms/month. According to the project success and the distribution orders, the delivery time could be higher than expected.
