McShin Rally Bus for Recovery!: a “pop-up” transit system that will transport us from a location in Richmond to the national mall in D.C. and back

McShin Rally Bus for Recovery!

On October 4, 2015, there will be an opportunity to join UNITE to Face Addiction and stand up for recovery as a collective force in Washington D.C. on the national mall. UNITE to Face Addiction is an advocacy initiative that unites people, communities, and organizations working on addiction solutions. The organization and its supporters are using the rally to show the nation that “addiction is preventable and treatable, that far too many of those affected have been incarcerated, and that people can and do get well.” Through the presence of tens of thousands of individuals in recovery and their supporters, we will show that addiction cannot be ignored any longer.

To get to Washington D.C., we will be using Rally Bus, a “pop-up” transit system that will transport us from a location in Richmond to the national mall in D.C. and back. Using Rally Bus will eliminate the stress of transportation so that we can focus our efforts and energy on making a difference. We need a minimum of 40 people to reserve one of these luxury buses, complete with on-board restrooms and entertainment. However, we hope to have enough support to fill four buses of individuals eager to make history!

Our goal is to raise $7,200 in order to fill four buses of participants to join the UNITE to Face Addiction rally. This goal will cover the cost for 160 people to attend, tips for the drivers, and the RocketHub fees. Because RocketHub is a “keep what I raise” funding mechanism, if we do not reach our goal, we will be able to keep what we raise and use it to support The McShin Foundation and the people we serve on a day to day basis. We would like to reach our goal by September 4th so we have the month before the rally to fill seats and organize participants.

More information about the rally can be found at http://www.facingaddiction.org and Rally Bus information can be found at http://rallybus.net/unitetofaceaddiction. If you choose to donate and would like to join us in D.C., contact Honesty Liller at [email protected] and we’ll reserve you a seat!

Help The McShin Foundation support UNITE to Face Addiction on October 4th in Washington D.C. because it’s time that we show that addiction is preventable and recovery is possible
