I will never forget October 21, 2011. That was the day I had a seizure while driving. I had been seizure free for seven years! The neurologist gave me the o.k. to drive. The day before the wreck, the pharmacy had to switch my medication to a generice brand. Not many people know that there is a difference between a brand name and generic name medication, except for the price. I do.
Companies that make generic medicine only have to have a 3.5% variation in the compound of the drug. That means that one pill may not have as much of the working medicine in it that is needed for you. Patients with epilepsy need to be consistant with their medicication!
This made me have a CAR WRECK after only taking one dose of the generic medicine. My 14 year old daughter was in the front seat. I lost control of the car. She tried to grab the steering wheel, but without knowing I fought her. After hitting mail boxes, a tree fell in between us. Her ankle was shattered. After five surgeries, her ankile is fused with titanium. At the age of 19 she already has arthritis.
After that date I have become more vocal about epilepsy. I need help to spread the word and explain how it affects 1 out of 26 people in the United States alone! Not everyone falls to the ground and shakes. Epilepsy is also the least funded for research.
I need your help spreading this worldwide!!
