Fund a Community Organizer for Cleveland Heights

the project

Our campaign has one big and exciting goal: build, enhance, and promote community in the city of Cleveland Heights. FutureHeights has already secured partial funding and seeks your support in funding a full-time position to organize and build community in our neighborhoods.
In 2014 our community faced many challenges but Cleveland Heights knows how to handle FEAR: as Regina Brett has said FEAR means to Face Everything And Rise. One positive response has already come from the City of Cleveland Heights, FutureHeights was awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to support creating our community building program that will engage residents in several neighborhoods with the highest needs, train leaders, provide a process for identifying their neighborhood assets and needs, and bring people together to create community action plans. The result will be empowered citizens working with each other, acting on what resources and strengths they already have and connecting to resources necessary to address their needs. Additionally, CDBG funds will be used to create a small grants program, led by FutureHeights, to support neighborhood action plans.
To provide these workshops and neighborhood leadership support, it is critical that FutureHeights hire a community engagement specialist to lead this program. In addition, the community organizer will further the work FutureHeights has done to spearhead and facilitate programs that will bring together residents and showcase Cleveland Heights as a vibrant and exciting place to live and work! Your help will prove that Cleveland Heights is a resilient city, committed to advancing its residents and supporting its community members.

why we’re doing it

We’ve started this campaign because we believe in Cleveland Heights. We believe that our city has much to offer its residents and region, and has the capacity to address resident needs. Cleveland Heights is a large, diverse city with a strong sense of community pride and has historically been a place committed to social justice and inclusion. This project will help amplify the voices of our residents and strengthen our city by providing neighbors with the tools and resources necessary to succeed in local community-enhancing projects.
