The Jim Carrey Tribute Show
Let’s bring The Jim Carrey Tribute Show to the big stage!
Garth van Rooyen, the worlds’ premier Jim Carrey impersonator takes you
on a whirlwind ride through the amazing career of one the worlds’ best physical comics.
The arts in our country need to be stimulated. In my first year of school a theatre troop came to my school to act out small parts of different books. David Muller was one of the actors, and we are in fact good friends now.
Those actors are the reason I became a comic/actor. I chose to take my show to schools for this very reason, if I can stimulate the realisation in children about the arts; then maybe then I might have the chance to encourage tomorrow’s artists.
I have opted for crowd-funding to give me the room to use my theatre shows to encourage people who don’t normally have the opportunity to attend the theatre. When my project is successfully funded I will be giving 20% of the seats to different children’s homes.
Through this campaign, I aim to organise future shows at schools featuring other local comics and actors. I know I am who I am because of the comics and actors who came before me.
This campaign will really help to give me the room to turn this from three shows into something that goes on after and flowers into something that will bring a long term enthusiasm and joy to our future talent.
Milestone 1 – The Tipping Point: R30 000
Reaching this amount means this project is A-GO!
This would secure theatres, national advertising, design of set and costumes; plus travel expenses.
Milestone 2 – R40 000
This milestone would expand the level and reach of advertising. Plus, 20% of seats will be given to charities to foster the arts amongst groups that may not otherwise have the chance to go to the theatre.
Milestone 3 – R50 000
As well as the previously mentioned descriptions, this milestone will allow me to work with an experienced director to make this show even more awesome!
