We have an amazing (non-profit) submarine museum in Muskegon, Michigan and our crown jewel is our fully in-tact WW2 Gato Class Submarine, the USS Silversides!
We are in the process of building a stone memorial at the museum to honor those men that never came home and the submarines that were lost at sea during World War 2. With your support for this project, we can reach our goal!
The USS Silversides Submarine Museum in Muskegon Michigan is moving quickly toward the construction of its World War 2 Submarine memorial honoring the over 3600 men on eternal patrol.
This memorial has been 70 years in the making and we are proud to honor the sacrifices of these young men. The museum board has long discussed such a monument and we feel the 2015, the 70th anniversary of the end of World War 2 is the appropriate time to do this.
The memorial will be placed on a hill overlooking the USS Silversides submarine currently moored in the Muskegon channel. It will include polished concrete walls placed in a semi-circle highlighting each of the 52 US submarines lost during World War 2. Each panel will contain the name of the submarine, the date of its loss, the circumstances of its loss and the disposition of the crew members.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
To keep costs down, the design and blueprints of this monument to sacrifice were donated by a local construction company. Our goal for this project is $15,000 and would be completely impossible without the support from Patriots like you! Have a look at our rewards, FUND what you can and we’ll catch on the other side… Thank You!
