Hello, Family!
I’ve been extremely honored with a placement in Birkbeck University’s Fall graduate class to study Culture, Diaspora and Ethnicity. I chose this school because of its multidisciplinary scope, amazing faculty, and my long held desire to live abroad.
I want to dive deeper into the study of state violence as it relates to gender violence for Black women across the diaspora. It will be both challenging and rewarding. Out of all the welcoming challenges I know this rigorous program will offer, I sincerely hope cost will not be one of them.
Being a first generation college student often meant leaning on those in community to help steer me in the right direction. Family, friends, peers and mentors have all invested so much time, energy, prayers, love, food, shoulders and encouragement into me- it’s why I have made it this far.
So I present you with an opportunity to invest in me once again. I chose Birbeck for it’s affordability (as compared to comparable programs in the US), but there are still many costs associated with the program, including:
Student Visa $495.84 usd
Maintenance $14,262.97 usd
Tuition $22,067.37 usd (for entire program)
..and more, of course.
If you can not give a monetary donation your love, advice and encouragement are still very much welcomed and appreciated.
WIlling to write, speak, teach workshops for donation as well. Contact me for references and CV if interested!
Best,
Rell
