Archived: weedingtech: A safe and viable alternative to herbicides, with clients including Yeo Valley

iCrowdNewswire - Jun 8, 2015

A growing body of research indicates that herbicides may not be safe. Weedingtech supplies the world’s leading herbicide-free weed control systems, helping their customers kill weeds effectively in line with increasingly complex legislation.

Investment Summary

Weedingtech provides a highly-effective, safe and sustainable weed control solution already being used extensively in the UK and Europe by a number of major organisations, including Yeo Valley, Quadron, South West Water, Svevia and SITA.

Supported by a patent portfolio and highly experienced and complimentary team, Weedingtech is already exceeding its sales targets for 2015, has achieved over £250k of booked revenue, and has supply chains and manufacturers established for all of its core product ranges. Their WeedGun was recognized as ‘the most innovative product in gardening for 20 years’ by Kingfisher PLC.

A recent study by the World Health Organisation (WHO) concluded that

Roundup – the world’s most widely used weedkiller – ‘probably’ causes cancer. In fact, glyphosate, the main ingredient in RoundUp, has been directly linked to a number of major health issues in addition to cancer, including birth defects, nervous system damage, Alzheimers, Parkinson’s and kidney failure.

Worryingly, there is evidence herbicide is getting into our water and food chains. A report by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) said that herbicides have been detected “in air during spraying, in water, and in food” and that it has also been detected “in the blood and urine of agricultural workers, indicating absorption”.

But absorption is not limited to agricultural workers, another recent study found traces of weedkiller has been found in human urine across Europe. In Great Britain, 70% of samples tested positive for glyphosate.

Increasing awareness of this potential problem is leading to tightening legislation. The Netherlands is the latest country to ban non-commercial use of glyphosate-based herbicides while most of the major EU countries (and many outside the EU) are tabling legislation to ban herbicide in all public areas by 2020.

Herbicide-free Weed Control

This is where Weedingtech comes in, as Europe’s leading herbicide-free weed control company.

Weedingtech’s Foamstream has won praise and backing from a variety of environmental and industry bodies such as the Soil Association and PAN UK (Pesticides Action Network UK) as well as a number of industry awards includingRushlight’s 2015 responsible product and sustainability initiative awards.

Weedingtech has also received testimonial praise from key clients:

Weedingtech’s Foamstream is a perfect fit with our ethos, and we were keen to get involved in the challenge to find out what it could do to help us. From the results we’ve seen so far we haven’t been disappointed – Foamstream is an extremely effective product for controlling weeds in a variety of different situations.
