I am a passionate cook who loves to feed people. My main reward comes from having my customers lick their lips, clean their plates and rub their tummies from being served a satisfying meal.
It seems that I have always been a cook. From a kid growing up in Jamaica watching my mom and grandma make magical meals, I have always been so fascinated by how they take simple ingredients like flour, water, plantains, oil and potatoes and spin them into mouth-watering delights. Even now with all my culinary experiences I have often looked back in amazement and with great respect as to how they could use seemingly ordinary items and create extraordinary meals and with it produce such a blissful, happy experience (which was in short supply back then) to all who were lucky enough to sample their handiwork. They somehow were able to transport you from all that ails, to suspend the myriad maladies and take you to a beautiful place of food, fun and family, even if only for the duration of the meal. If I was to pinpoint exactly what turned me on to the plate, this would be it, to recapture that lovely feeling that Mama and Grandmamma blessed me with as a curious little hungry boy way back then.
I have been on a quest ever since to bring this same “happy” experience to all who may partake of the product of my kitchen. To this end, not being able to afford a formal culinary education, I have gone the old-fashioned route of apprenticing with chefs who were willing to teach me the intricacies of formal cookery from Maine to Florida. I have learned a great deal from these great chefs on my path to culinary enlightenment and my path is getting ever brighter with each meal I serve.
Business Description
The initial idea for Call-Chef Services came about in the summer of 2006 as I was cooking for a private house party. At the time the host was seeking a competent cook for hire to cater to his many and frequent party guests of varying backgrounds within the financial and entertainment industries. As the saying goes, I was in the right place at the right time.
The overwhelmingly favorable response to the food along with repeated requests for contact and pricing information from the partiers, spurred me into rapidly developing and rolling out the beginnings of a culinary service based on the personal chef model. I quickly moved on from party to party adapting the dishes to match demand as the requests became more sophisticated. I decided soon after that I needed to get ready to take full advantage of this tremendous opportunity and take it to the next level.
In October of 2010, The Kings County clerk made Call-Chef Services an official entity. The current operations involve meal preparations and catering/party service as a personal chef in the homes of clients. The planned outgrowth of services involves obtaining and operating a second market, optimally an outfitted mobile kitchen unit for the production of high quality delivered meals. Acquiring this mobile kitchen unit is integral to the business concept being considered for launch.
What is the purpose of this loan?
The loan will help to make major repairs to the engine and braking system of a Freightliner step van that I acquired earlier this year. The diesel engine and braking system will have to be rebuilt. This is just the first step in building it into a mobile kitchen unit.
– $6500.00 to repair the engine and braking systems for my van. – $3500.00 towards the purchase of kitchen production equipment (i.e. range, fryer, grill, refrigerator).
