Inclusive Playground – Utica District Park, Md.: Children with disabilities are empowered when the built environment meets their need for play

iCrowdNewswire - Jun 1, 2015

Inclusive Playground Needed

About this project

Inclusive Playground – Utica District Park. While this park does have an existing playground, an inclusive playground would have very different play components, which would provide recreational opportunities for physically challenged children. Outdoor play is critical to a child’s healthy development, and children learn from play in a variety of ways: physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory. Children with disabilities are empowered when the built environment meets their need for play. In addition, all children benefit when play spaces are designed for children of all abilities to play together. Estimated funding needed for this project is $120,000, which would include design services, as well as construction of the play structures and surfacing.
