By ANNALAKSHMI CULTURAL CENTRE OF WA INC.
Under the motto “Serve, Love, Give” we have been serving the people of Perth for 25 years. Now we are asking you to support our cause and help us help others.
More then 25 years ago, Annalakshmi on the Swan was founded with the guidance of his Holiness Swami Shantanand with the concept of “Serve, love, give selflessly”. Like the divine mother Annalakshmi, mother of sustenance, we not only nurture everyone by providing a wholesome healthy vegetarian meal, but also provide a cultural and spiritual experience by sharing the Indian heritage through dance and music.
Food is meant for sustenance of life. Nobody should be deprived. Because of this Annalakshmi operates with the ethos of ” Eat as you like and pay as your heart feels”. This allows the ones who can to share with the ones who can’t.
Due to this we depend on our volunteers, our patrons and their generosity. Sadly, since the end of 2012 and the beginning of the construction process on Barrack Square the amount of our guests has steeply declined. Instead of once 600 guests every day, nowadays only 250 enter our venue. Some days even less.
Every month we pay about $27,000 in rent, including electricity and council rates. The cost of produce and other outgoings amounts to $10,500 a week. This means we spend at least $69,000 every month.
We are trying to raise $324,000. This will help us pay rent for a year and cover several debts.
In the last few years amounting to this bill has become a very tough struggle. We are now asking for your help, so we can keep on contributing to the city of Perth. You can help in several ways. You can, for example, donate directly through this site, sponsor an evening or you can come and dine with us. This includes special functions like birthdays, weddings and fundraisers.
