blink blink Creative Circuit Kits provide all the necessary tools to engineer arts, crafts, and fashion projects with technology, specifically focusing on girls & their beautifully inspired and uninhibited creativity. For ages 8+.
blink blink circuit kits teach the fundamentals of making projects with creative circuits so girls can enhance their DIY, fashion, arts, and crafts projects with light!
With our comprehensive blink blink Creative Circuit Booklet and website tutorials (videos and step-by-step instructions), we fully support girls through the creative circuit exploration process.
The blink blink circuit building teaches introductory circuit theory concepts – power, electricity, parallel circuits, series circuits, and more! The booklet also provides 4 tutorials on projects that cover how to use all of the materials in the kit. We designed this experience to be playful and exploratory. Girls can start building immediately and learn about circuits, engineering, and science along the way!
We have hosted over 100 blink blink workshops where girls ages 8-18 have collaborated to design the blink blink experience, created art embedded with creative circuits, and thus helped create a welcoming and playful environment for young girls to explore building with technology.
The blink blink Possibilities Kit is our most robust creative circuit kit. This kit has a wide range of materials to get you making DIY, arts, crafts, and fashion technology projects right away. Comes with: blink blink Creative Circuit Booklet, copper tape, LEDs, 10 coin cell batteries, conductive thread, sewable battery holders, and more! (full description of materials below)
Paper Circuits Kits come with everything you need to make amazing light-up cards, origami, and paper sculpture projects: blink blink Creative Circuit Booklet, copper tape, LEDs, batteries, and an assortment of our favorite paper!
We’ve teamed up with Makey Makey to offer you a super exciting reward. Turn your DIY, arts, or fashion projects into musical instruments or game controllers with this super fun blink blink + Makey Makey package!

We’ve created blink blink because we believe that girls should have the opportunity to have fun experiences with technology and engineering at an earlier age!
We (Joselyn & Nicole) met in graduate school at Parsons while studying Design and Technology. While in school, we fell in love with all things code, wearable tech, and soft-circuits. Our passions aligned where tech and creativity intersected, and we saw other women having similar experiences. We both had the same thought, “Why didn’t we come across this earlier?“, and “We need to get this in front of girls!”. This inspired us to design an experience for young girls to explore making and crafting with technology and art. We have been developing blink blink for two years by hosting workshops with girls to get the kit and experience just right.
Nicole studied aerospace engineering, in class and the machine shop she experienced male dominated and unwelcoming environments. As a filmmaker and someone interested in creative technology, Joselyn had similar experiences. Only 11% of engineers are women. We want to change these sorts of STEM gender imbalances by providing fun entry points into technology and engineering – through creative circuits!
Research shows that girls can become disinterested in science as young as 8 years old. Mainstream culture, television, and marketing campaigns often portray science and engineering as fields where boys thrive. blink blink is here to show girls that science and engineering can be fun, and that they can make awesome projects that light up while learning basic circuit-building concepts!
With the blink blink Possibilities Kit, you can make paper circuit and sewable circuit projects. Use the blink blink creative circuit materials to make the blinking, light-up, magical projects you’ve always dreamed of!
The blink blink Possibilities Kit provides you with the following: blink blink Creative Circuit Booklet, copper tape, conductive fabrics, conductive thread, craft supplies (sewing needles, felt, thread & more), LEDs, LED fairy wire, ten 3V coin cell batteries, 4 battery holders, and alligator clips. We provide you with enough materials to make 10+ projects.
Don’t know what these materials are? Don’t sweat it! Our Creative Circuit Booklet and online videos, gifs, and tutorials will show you how to use these creative circuit materials to make your DIY, arts, and fashion tech projects come to life!
blink blink is a fun, creative, and impactful way for girls to explore technology through arts, crafts, and fashion. With blink blink, girls will have the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts with fun hands-on circuit projects. We hope that by providing an entry point into STEM, we will see more girls stay with these fields. In order to see the true potential of blink blink, we need your help to manufacture the kits. By manufacturing the blink blink kits, we can lower the cost of our materials, reach more girls, and even establish blink blink maker spaces in schools!
F.A.Q
1. What will blink blink do after Kickstarter ?
The blink blink Possibilities Kit and the Paper Circuits Kit are only the beginning of our adventure. We intend to design and manufacture a variety of blink blink kits whereby kids can learn a number of science and engineering concepts in order to build a wide range of projects. Future blink blink kit designs include solar-powered energy design, DIY paper speakers, conductive play dough, sewable circuits and many more!
We’re on a mission to provide alternative entry points to mainstream maker and hacker culture, so girls have encouraging opportunities to craft, design, make, and play with circuits while having fun! blink blink is much more than our kits – it’s a welcoming culture and environment for girls to explore technology and engineering through creativity.
2. What age group is blink blink designed for?
We are designing blink blink for girls ages 8 – 18; however, anyone between the ages of 8-108 can start creating with blink blink.
3. Can only girls use the kit?
Our mission is to design blink blink with empathy for girls in order to provide girls with a welcoming environment to explore tech creatively; however, we welcome EVERYONE to start building with blink blink.
4. What makes blink blink different from other tech toys for girls?
We have curated a unique selection of creative circuit materials and can truly say that we are the only tech and electronic kit that is designed with empathy for girls and co-designed with girls.
5. Did just the co-founder, Nicole & Joselyn, create blink blink?
No, we’ve had a TON of help from friends and colleagues, and blink blink would not be possible without them!
Thank you to:

Parsons School of Design, 4.0 Schools, and the New Challenge grant for tremendous support and resources.
As with all Kickstarter projects and product design, there are risks, and there will be challenges. Because we are building a physical product, our biggest challenges will be mass production manufacturing and logistics. We already have a final design for the kits and know the different components are functioning. Our next steps include scheduling a production prototype run with a trusted manufacturer prior to mass production of the kits. We are absolutely devoted to producing and shipping the kits as soon as possible; however, sometimes there are schedule setbacks.
