INFRARED CAMERA TO DETECT COAL SEAM GAS LEAKS
Its time for those against coal seam gas to stand together. Its time for us to expose the risks coal seam gas extraction has on our health, water, land and food security.
We need to raise about 30,000 to buy one of these cameras

If your busy working and unable to go to events or blockades this is a practical way you can help the campaign.
When our own Government won’t protect our Water, Health and Land from the dangers of Coal Seam Gas, it is time for the PEOPLE to stand together to protect the future for us all.
Look at the visual impact these cameras make…. a very clear indication that fracking, coal seam gas & shale mining is not, and will never be safe for the health of our communities and environment.

Once we raise the funds for the FLIR camera, all groups who have donated at least 1000.00 and are listed under the group name on this page, will be put into the ballot for one months use. Everyone will get use of the camera. The Ballot will decided the order. AUSTRALIA WIDE

Jan 22, Kern County, CA – Today a coalition of citizens and environmental groups released California’s first analysis of air pollution from oil and gas pollution using infrared video analysis in combination with air sampling and health surveys of impacted communities. Making visible normally invisible pollution, the study revealed that the communities of Lost Hills and Upper Ojai are exposed to at least 15 distinct toxics released by oil and gas development. – http://www.earthworksaction.org/media/detail/first_infrared_analysis_of_oil_and_gas_air_pollution_shows_communities_heal#.VOqXUUj9nIX
A recent study “Californian’s at risk – An Analysis of Health Threats from Oil and Gas Pollution in Two Communities” ( http://www.earthworksaction.org/library/detail/californians_at_risk_full_report#.VPzQTkj9nIV ) was completed using a FLIR GF300 camera. The study revealed the presence of 15 compounds known to have negative effects on human health, as well as 11 compounds for which no health data is available.
Health surveys conducted in both communities showed evidence of health effects such as nosebleeds, headaches, sinus problems, and skin rashes.
With the infrared FLIR camera, vapours that cannot be seen with the naked eye are now visible. Even small plumes can be seen indicating that volatile organic compounds, VOCs, are escaping from the well.
A Chesapeake Bay Foundations infrared video investigation of gas drilling sites in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia found invisible air pollution rising from almost three quarters of those examined. Emissions from drilling sites are not being adequately controlled. Air pollution and potential health risks, are a leading concern for families living in areas where hydraulic fracturing has and will occur. One expert consulted on the video investigation, Dr. Robert Howarth, Professor of Ecology at Cornell University, said “I would not want to be breathing the air downstream of those rigs” He represents the state of New York on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Chesapeake Bay Program’s Science and Technical Advisory Committee.
