OurCrowd is investing in ElMindA – a company pioneering next generation brain diagnostics.
Two billion people suffer from brain related disorders, costing three trillion dollars per year.
ElMindA’s BNA™ technology is a breakthrough approach to brain disorder diagnosis and monitoring. The solution uses a 64 electrode wearable cap to measure cognitive-electrophysiology (ERPs), a direct measure of neural activity associated with cognitive function, allowing for insights unparalleled by EEG, QEEG or ERP alone or by any other anatomic and functional brain imaging and evaluation tools. The BNA™ algorithms use innovative sets of signal processing and pattern recognition techniques to seek and map activated neural pathways in task-related data points with respect to time, location, amplitude and frequency.
ElMindA’s solution received its FDA clearance and CE mark in 2014. The company was included on Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies alongside Apple, Alibaba, Google, Instagram, Tesla, and Samsung and was one of a select few companies showcased to President Barak Obama on his 2013 visit to Israel.
ElMindA is led by Ronen Gadot, a seasoned manager with extensive experience gained at Applied Materials, Phillips Electronics, and SHL Telemedicine. Ronen was a founding member of Philips’s Corporate Venture arm, and earned his MBA from INSEAD Business School. ElMindA’s founder and CTO, Amir Geva, is a professor at both Ben Gurion Univeristy (BGU) and Technion, Head of the Biomedical Signal Processing & Pattern Recognition Laboratory at BGU, and an accomplished scientist in the area of brain and EEG research. Ronen and Amir are joined by a team of veterans who bring deep experience in R&D, computer science, electrophysiology, neuroscience, accounting, project management, product management, and communication. This round is being led by Bill Hambrecht, former Director of AOL and Motorola, founder of WH Hambrecht & Co, and one of the key advisors to the initial public offerings of Apple, Genetech, and Adobe. We are joined in this investment by Robert Kraft, CEO of the Kraft Group, a multibillion dollar group of privately-held companies that includes the Super Bowl champion, New England Patriots.
